Singapore’s National Day is celebrated on 9th August every year, marking the country’s independence.
The famous National Day Parade takes place at the Float at Marina Bay, with multicultural performances, military parades and impressive aerial performances all cheered on by flag-waving onlookers. The event concludes with a fireworks display at around 8pm.
Rehearsals for the parade begin a couple of months before the actual day and so don’t be surprised to see military aircraft flying around. There are also two dress rehearsals or ‘preview shows’ on the two weekends before National Day.
