Weather in Singapore in November

November comes at the end of the inter-monsoon period in Singapore (between the Southwest Monsoon and Northeast Monsoon seasons). 

As the Northeast Monsoon approaches, rainfall intensifies and you can expect frequent thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings. November is the second wettest month of the year. 

The temperatures drop a little in November with the average monthly temperatures in November being 27.2°C (81°F) – this compared to a maximum average of 28.6 in May. It doesn’t sound like a lot but locals will likely pull on a pair of jeans or sweater in the evenings! 

Humidity is higher than normal thanks to all that rain, with a 84.9% average, so remember to drink lots of water.

The average day time maximum temperature in November is 31.2°C (88°F), with an average minimum temperature of 24.6°C (76°F) and a 24-hour average of 27.2°C (81°F).

How much does it rain in Singapore in November?

A lot. Yes, Singapore’s rainy season is in full swing and it rains on average 19 out of 30 days during November. 

With average rainfall of 252.3mm it is higher than average when it comes to rain in Singapore (compared to 105.1mm in January and 331.9mm in December), making it the second wettest month of the year after December. 

You can expect frequent thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evenings – November has the highest number of lightning days in the year. 

Don’t leave your hotel room without an umbrella, as the rain can come on suddenly. Thunderstorms at this time of year can also be severe so it is a good idea to head to a dry, sheltered place to wait it out.

Singapore Humidity in November

Humidity also ramps up in Singapore in November thanks to all that rain. Relative humidity ranges from a minimum average of 65.5% and a maximum average of 96.5% and a 24-hour daily average of 84.9%. 

This makes it the second most humid month of the year in Singapore. Note that humidity is generally at its highest in the morning just before sunrise and at its lowest in the mid-afternoon (on days when there is no rain). 

You will notice the humidity rising in the lead up to a thunderstorm and it will drop again following the rain. Humidity frequently reaches 100% during prolonged rain periods.

What should I pack for Singapore in November?

As you can see from the above statistics, Singapore is hot and humid in November with a lot of rain. You should be always prepared for thunderstorms in the afternoons. 

We recommend packing lightweight cotton clothing and carrying an umbrella and water bottle with you at all times. Also don’t forget your sunscreen, insect repellent and swimwear for when you want to jump in the pool to cool off.

What else should I know about visiting Singapore in November?

The Hindu festival of Deepavali, (or Diwali) takes place in either October or November each year, falling on the 15th day of the 8th month in India’s calendar.

The dates for Deepavali will be 24th October in 2022 and 12th November in 2023.

This Festival of Lights is always a fun time to visit Little India, when there is a street light-up, street bazaars and cultural shows in the weeks preceding Deepavali. 

A week before Deepavali, the Sri Mariamman temple in Chinatown hosts the annual Theemithi, or Fire Walking Festival.
